You must take either the SAT or ACT to submit an application to Stanford. More importantly, you need to do well to have a strong application. Stanford SAT Requirements Many schools say they have no SAT score cutoff, but the truth is that there is a hidden SAT requirement. This is based on the school's average score.
So Locke was able to use the account of natural rights and a government created through contract to accomplish a number of important tasks. He could use it to show why individuals retain certain rights even when they are subject to a government. He could use it to show why despotic governments which attempted to unduly infringe on the rights of their citizens were bad. And he could use it to show that citizens had a right to revolt in instances where governments failed in certain ways. These are powerful ideas which remain important even today.
However, other elite schools like Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford, CalTech, and Dartmouth all require it. Top public colleges like UC's , University of Michigan, and University of Texas require it as well. So if you are aiming high, you may want to take this part of the test!
Book III of the Essay is concerned with language. Locke admits that this topic is something of a digression. He did not originally plan for language to take up an entire book of the Essay. But he soon began to realize that language plays an important role in our cognitive lives. Book III begins by noting this and by discussing the nature and proper role of language. But a major portion of Book III is devoted to combating the misuse of language. Locke believes that improper use of language is one of the greatest obstacles to knowledge and clear thought. He offers a diagnosis of the problems caused by language and recommendations for avoiding these problems.
Colleges will not superscore sections across new and old SATs. They will accept both tests and, in most cases, will evaluate your application on your highest score. The catch is that if any of your target colleges require the essay, then you will not be able to use your new SAT score without an essay. Since you already have three old SAT scores, you would be able to use those. It 8767 s unfortunate that the 75% of universities requiring the essay are making it so difficult students to avoid the extra testing and expense.
Your essay will be graded by two real, live human readers who will give your essay a grade between a low of 6 and a high of 6 for a score from 7 to 67 in each of four domains and a total score averaged from these domain scores from 7 to 67 based on your ability to write a logical, focused, and organized essay. If these scores differ by more than one point, a third reader will also look it over. (Want a perfect score? See this!)
**Applicants to the School of Engineering and Applied Science or the Wharton School are encouraged to take a Mathematics SAT Subject Test. Applicants interested in science-related fields (including engineering or nursing) are encouraged to take a science SAT Subject Test (preferably Physics for engineering, Chemistry for nursing).
Applicants to the Pratt School of Engineering who take the SAT are strongly recommended to take one SAT Subject Test in Mathematics (level 6 or level 7) and an additional subject test of their choice.
Applicants to the Trinity College of Arts & Sciences who take the SAT may take any two SAT Subject Tests.
Please note: Stanford reserves the right to revoke an offer of admission if an applicant's self-reported test scores do not align with those in the official score report.
The 75th percentile Old SAT score is 7585, and the 75th percentile SAT score is 7865. In other words, a 7585 on the Old SAT places you below average, while a 7865 puts you well above average.
The essay score is a very, very small part of a testing portfolio. His 66 may not be the score he wanted, but it is not so far off the norm for top scorers that I recommend a retest and certainly not a switch to the ACT given his strong SAT score. I expect 75th-75th percentile scores for enrolled students at even schools such as Stanford and Princeton to be in the 65-76 range. The benefit of being higher in that range is dubious.
The concept of the optional SAT essay is still new enough that not many colleges have explicitly stated their policies. In general, I think it is safe to assume that superscoring colleges like to view scores through the 8775 most favorable 8776 lens and will consider your highest essay score. Also, keep in mind that your essay score is by far the least important score on your report. You don 8767 t mention your scores, but they might make a difference. For example, if you received good essay scores in December, it may not be worth submitting your October scores.

Built a front-end and a middle-end of a toy compiler by implementing a lexer, parser, translator, and optimizer for the given source language and target language definition, using OCaml.
By and large, most colleges do not superscore the ACT. (Superscore means that the school takes your best section scores from all the test dates you submit, and then combines them into the best possible composite score). Thus, most schools will just take your highest ACT score from a single sitting.
